Spectrum WASP

Spectrum WASP (We Are Special People) is a Children`s Charity supporting Local Children and Young People on the Autistic Spectrum with Disabilities, Special and Additional needs. They also support the Siblings and Families living within Rainworth, Blidworth, Mansfield and the surrounding areas of Nottinghamshire.

The fundamental aim of establishing the Spectrum WASP Children`s Charity within our Local
Community, is to support the development and skills of Children and Young People, to improve their quality of life and help them to gain acceptance into today’s demanding society.
They provide Support for Parents and Carers through a comprehensive training programme that
supports caring for Children, and Young People, who frequently demonstrate incredibly challenging behaviour at times.

Over the last 13 years, we have supported more than 475 Children, Young People and Siblings and our numbers are growing constantly year by year. They take referrals from Consultants/Pediatricians/Specialist Nurse at the Kings Mill Hospital, Nottingham City Hospital, Social Workers, Family Services and Local GPs which also refer Children and Young People to Spectrum WASP.

For more information on how Spectrum Wasp support these vulnerable children and their families please visit their website www.spectrumwasp.org

The Cooper Street Project

Supporting The Cooper Street Kids who come from a very poor community based in Swelledam, South Africa. The children are fed daily by a lady called Cynthia Tobias from her own private home. Cynthia welcomes these children into her home with open arms and most children come from backgrounds where they may not get a meal each day. The Cooper Street Kids can seek refuge and play as children should play, and they each receive a nice hot meal and feel safe in her home.

East Cheshire Hospice

Geoff’s Dad, Uncle, and some friends and neighbours have all been cared for at the Hospice. It is a warm and welcoming space for adults facing life limiting illness. It provides care, comfort and compassionate support to patients and their loved ones. Switched On Solutions are proud members of the East Cheshire Hospice 500 Club and we do a long distance sponsored walk each year to raise much needed funds for this wonderful place.
